The Hearin Center for Enterprise Science brings its services to the business community through the creation of resource sharing mechanisms.  Expertise and software, drawing on internationally renowned researchers and consultants, is made available through innovative and low cost prototype studies — where the Center develops models and tailored solutions to improve the operations of the organizations it serves.

In addition, companies that produce leading edge software for business applications related to simulation and optimization can become Center affiliates to make their software available for prototype studies. This produces mutual benefits for software donors  and the organizations whose applications use the software.

When the prototype study proves the value of software for a user application, the two companies (donor and user) can take advantage of their association through the Center by getting together to work out a suitable follow-on arrangement. The Center offers its services to facilitate these connections. Firms with problems to be solved may therefore receive benefits from both the initial and follow-on arrangements.

The Center additionally provides contacts between organizations and talented upper level students who take a significant role in carrying out prototype studies.
