Prototype studies and other engagements with Client/Beneficiary firms will provide a source of records that have a significant supplemental worth to the Center. Well-documented details of applications, and the processes leading to new discoveries, have a value for education and training. Within bounds established for respecting confidentiality, documents of these types may become the starting point for publications that can be used in university studies and courses in applied optimization.

The Center activities also provide an additional service for students, and for firms that have an opportunity to witness and evaluate the contributions of these students, by establishing a natural conduit for placing the students with such firms after graduation from the university. Similarly, these connections give a ready basis for creating internship problems, both with Research Support firms and Client/Beneficiary firms.

Finally, the value of the Center’s services can become magnified by the follow-on activities that take place between a Client/Beneficiary firm and Research Support firms, as a result of the Center’s role in establishing links through which the Research Support firms provide software, and also, potentially, expertise for the prototypes.
