Abstract:
This study will contribute to basic research in the Integrated Career Management System area in the Navy’s Distribution and Assignment core program. It will provide guidance on the organizational processes and decision criteria that should be used 

in matching sailors to assignments. A better understanding of the processes and criteria used in addressing long-term organizational and individual career development needs can contribute to achieving the performance, sailor retention, and developmental outcomes in assignment process. An organization employing knowledge workers that is particularly focused on longer-term human capital development and retention will be used to refine and test this theoretical framework.
