Fred Glover - Academic Membership Honor,  2002

It is our pleasure to inform that Fred W. Glover, Distinguished Research Associate of the Hearin Center for Enterprise Science at the University of Mississippi, has been elected as a member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). He was elected for his contributions to optimization modeling and algorithmic development, and for solving problems in distribution, planning, and design. Dr. Glover also serves as Media One Professor of Systems Science, at the University of Colorado.

Election to the NAE is among the highest professional distinctions accorded by the engineering profession.  Academy membership honors those who have made "important contributions to engineering theory and practice, including significant contributions to the literature of engineering theory and practice," and those who have demonstrated "unusual accomplishment in the pioneering of new and developing fields of technology."

This year the National Academy of Engineering elected 74 engineers and 7 foreign associates which brings the total U.S. membership to 1,857 active members and 250 members emeriti, and the number of foreign associates to 158.
